What it is
A tiny island with nowhere to be. You play the Island Spirit: wander the paths, sit on a bench and watch the sea, pet the cats, swim, and ride the updrafts on a glide. There are 24 film reels and nine named scenes if you want a reason to explore. Day turns to night, and the soundtrack is generated as you play.
It runs in the browser on WebGPU, and falls back to WebGL where WebGPU isn’t available.
How it was made
With AI, in three layers:
- The character. An image model drew three concept sheets: a visitor, an otter and an island spirit. The spirit won. The prompts are kept in the repo.
- The model. The Island Spirit was modeled, rigged and animated in Blender through Python scripts, over nine versions from a rough blockout to directional walk cycles.
- The engine. The game started on WebGL and moved to WebGPU. Tests compare the new version against the frozen original: scenes, shaders and sound.
